Jessica loves teaching, and in addition to her undergrad and graduate students at GSU, she runs a flute studio out of her home in Grant Park. She enjoys helping students achieve their potential, whether that means taking professional orchestra or conservatory auditions, making All State, rekindling an old love of music, or learning to play an instrument and the discipline that entails. Mastering an instrument can be incredible for personal development. It's about learning responsibility and creative problem-solving.

...She is a supremely talented flautist and a great teacher. She coaches on technique and tone - of course - but also musicality, which I especially appreciate because it's hard to notice deficiencies in musicality with out some seasoned guidance. She is always accessible over email and text and even helped me get ready for an audition while she was out of town for a summer gig by reviewing recordings of my playing and offering valuable feedback. Highly recommended!

Mrs. Jessica is an amazing flute teacher! I’ve been studying with her for almost a year now and she has helped me improve not only as a musician but as a person. I have learned the value of hard work and that perseverance pays off! She has helped me to prepare for auditions and pushed me to have pride in what I do. I couldn’t have asked for a better teacher with amazing connections in the Atlanta area!

"Studying flute with Jessica Petrasek was extremely transformative. She changed both my sound and the way I go about learning music by helping me break down and reconstruct my tone to have a pallet of colors from which to choose. She also emphasized the development of characters and stories in pieces, which was completely different from the way I had previously tried to use expression..."

Jessica has been a wonderful teacher for me! I used to play until college and recently decided to pick up flute again. I was terrified of how bad I would be after decades of not playing, but Jessica's patience and encouragement have helped me so much. Her emphasis on beautiful sound at all times, as well as her gorgeous demonstrations in lessons, has led me to have a better sound than I ever used to. Even my husband likes hearing me practice now!
